Holy Child Rainbow Magazine

Following Pentecost of 2000, our parish conducted a survey of parishioners in which we asked for suggestions of ways we could best be active as a community of faith. As a result, our magazine, the Rainbow came to life in the December of 2000.

The founding committee members were Margaret Punton, Lidio Bertelli, Max Smith, Vien Pham, Stephanie Telescourt, Pascal Telescourt & Jacinta Bright.

Our aim is to produce a magazine four times each year. We try to make it informative and entertaining and hope it will assist in building a stronger community as we share experiences, talents and dreams. The title of our magazine, Rainbow, symbolises the richness of diversity we experience at Holy Child. It is a sign of hope and beauty and of creation.

The Rainbow is the fruit of the labour of many parishioners at Holy Child. Our committee plans the content, approaches contributors, seeks out advertisers and lays out the pages ready for copying. Other volunteers then photocopy, collate and bag and then deliver the finished product to the letterboxes of 1200 parish homes. We also have our regular translators translating articles from English to Italian, Portuguese and Vietnamese. The number of people involved in this enormous task is around sixty. The contribution these people make is greatly appreciated by the parish. We are now able to be in contact with all parishioners. This is a great outreach!

We aim to be self sufficient in regards to funding the project, so we seek advertisers in order to meet the costs, which are significant, but worth every cent.

The current members of our committee are Millicent Pereyra, Nhan Tran, Vien Pham, Ann Smith, Max Smith, Lidio Bertelli, Ann Tran, Minh Nguyen, Domicic Santhiapillai and Judy Cartwright. We have a lot of fun on the committee. We are very friendly and always willing to listen to new ideas and we always welcome more helpers. We meet almost monthly, depending on the deadline, at the Holy Family Centre in Meadow Heights.
